  • Overview

    Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Development Associate provides support for Bancroft’s development team and helps to develop, grow and steward Bancroft’s pipeline of current and prospective donors. The Development Associate is responsible for assisting with all development activities, providing administrative support, supporting the Foundation’s events, and working collaboratively with the development team to achieve fundraising goals.

    Responsibilities

    • Provide administrative support for the development program, including drafting and mailing personalized acknowledgement letters; drafting renewal letters, proposals, email communications and reports for major donors; and responding to donor inquiries.
    • Provide administrative support for the Development Committee, including recording minutes, scheduling meetings, preparing meeting packets, etc.
    • Work with CDO to steward and cultivate major donors through written communications, phone calls and in-person meetings; over time, develop a small personal portfolio of major donors.
    • Work closely with the team in implementing stewardship plans for all major donors.
    • Develop a pipeline of major donor prospects and monitor and evaluate progress; maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect lists.
    • Help to plan and coordinate donor events; assist with fundraising events and solicitation of sponsorships.
    • Utilize Salesforce and track donor actions/meetings.
    • Assist in coordinating major donor direct mail and email appeals with the development staff.
    • Organize and maintain accurate major donor records in Salesforce and run list pulls for donor mailings and general donor reports.
    • Assist the development team with scheduling and preparation for meetings.
    • Assist with other development projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required with 1-2 years of fundraising or related sales experience preferred.
    • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and high standards, including meticulous attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong ability to interact with a diverse and broad range of individuals.
    • Strong initiative; ability to assume significant project management responsibility.
    • Excels at working both independently and as part of a team; strong ability to track and report on progress with limited supervision.
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills required; proficiency in computer skills and database management (Salesforce preferred).
    • Ability to prioritize and organize work to effectively balance multiple assignments, set priorities and meet strict deadlines.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
