As the Senior Director of Development at Bancroft, you'll play a pivotal role as the number two on our development team, driving our fundraising efforts and strengthening our organization's capacity to serve those with autism and disabilities.

You'll provide essential leadership across key areas, including:

• Donor Relations, Stewardship, and Communications: Cultivating meaningful relationships and ensuring our donors feel appreciated and informed.
• Annual Fund: Leading the charge on our critical yearly fundraising initiatives.
• Bancroft's Signature Event and Stewardship Events: Overseeing the success of our most impactful gatherings.
• Revenue and Expense Budgets: Strategically managing financial resources to maximize our mission's reach.

You'll also manage a diverse portfolio of prospects, including those from NeuroRehab, the Family Executive Council, highly rated annual fund donors, and Development Committee members. Working closely with the Chief Development Officer, the Development Committee, and senior leadership, you'll be instrumental in advancing Bancroft's fundraising goals and empowering individuals to live their best lives.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Fosters an atmosphere of personal integrity and team-oriented goal achievement by working with the development staff to ensure all goals are met in a timely manner. 

• Schedule and conduct an average of 4-5 personal visits per month and solicit an average of 1-2 gifts per month. The SDD will focus on gifts of $5,000 to $500,000 and will work with new donors to cultivate gifts, existing donors to upgrade gifts, and promote planned giving options as appropriate.

• Cultivate families who have received services from NeuroRehab and oversee their wealth screening on a monthly basis. Develop a fundraising strategy to cultivate and solicit prospective donors.

• Lead Bancroft’s signature Gala event and secure sponsorship, promote ticket sales/attendance, work with marketing on all collateral materials, and execute all event management details. Prepare event briefing packets for senior leadership and Board members. 

• Plan and supervise a comprehensive program and strategy for stewardship of donors at all levels including: creating donor wall(s), annual events for stewardship societies, donor communications such as the annual report and CEO newsletter, endowment reports, etc. 

• Lead the Annual Fund efforts and begin to build the pipeline from annual giving to major giving. Increase donor retention and expand the annual fund to solicit additional prospects. Plan and implement donor acquisition and renewal programs.

• Attend Development Committee meetings and foster the growth and development of the group. Set fundraising expectations and clear goals for the Committee.

• Develop major gift proposals, direct mail pieces, digital marketing, giving campaigns and promotional efforts. Work collaboratively with Marketing on the production of all materials. 

• Develop and supervise the Development dashboard to report metrics for both the Board and the Development Office. Supervise the formulation and distribution of monthly revenue reports. 

• Provides leadership for all internal and external relationship building with a variety of constituencies; working with families, volunteers and others to identify linkage, ability and interest of major gift prospects; assist organizational leadership in efforts to identify sources and prepare proposals to corporations and foundations.

• With the CDO, assist in providing support to volunteer leadership, preparing for meetings, maintaining meeting records and ensuring clear communication and coordination between fundraising volunteers.

• Manage the pledge/gifts receiving, receipting, acknowledgement and donor recognition processes. 

• Provide coordination of Development’s long-range strategic plan and annual operating plans with Bancroft’s priorities and strategic plan. 

• Work with the CDO to develop policies and procedures for wealth screening, moves management, portfolio assignment, database protocol, etc. 

• Abides by the Bancroft Code of Ethics, Mission Statement, and Vision Statement in promoting ethical behavior, establishing relationships and providing guidance in decision-making situations.

• Remains current with required training certifications, meets state-regulated licensing and regulatory accreditations, and adheres to mandatory requirements.

• Maintains effective verbal and written communications with colleagues, those served, and their family members and/or guardians when applicable.

• Willingly and effectively cooperates with Bancroft NeuroHealth, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agency or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.

• Maintains a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation; does not allow weapons, threats, bullying or intimidation.

• Reports any violations to the appropriate individual as soon as the incident occurs.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree required with 5 -7 years of fundraising or related sales experience preferred. 
• Demonstrated success in closing six-figure gifts and managing high-level donors and board members.
• Experience managing development operations and previous campaign experience required.

• Demonstrated commitment to excellence and high standards, including meticulous attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills, and strong ability to interact with a diverse and broad range of individuals.
• Strong initiative; ability to assume project management responsibility.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills required; proficiency in computer skills and database management (Salesforce preferred).
• Ability to think conceptually & strategically; excellent organizational skills.  Ability to multitask and work under pressure and deadlines as a team player.
• Valid driver’s license required in incumbent’s legal name and current address with no provisional restrictions. Minimum 18 years of age required.
