Bancroft is looking for a Van Driver for our Community Residential Program to provide transportation to and from specific destination points served by the Bancroft organization
Van Driver's job responsibilities consists of but not limited to operating a van in a safe and responsible manner to transport persons served to and from specified destinations in accordance with an established schedule or based on immediate needs. Conforms to expected time tables and communicates any changes in schedule, operational difficulties, etc., to Program Manager.
Effectively communicates with other drivers, other agencies, appropriate family members, etc., to ensure timely updates of schedules, prompt response to unexpected changes in schedules, etc.
Maintains cleanliness of vans in accordance with established Health and Safety Checklists. May be responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance; e.g., checking oil, water, and tires; reports any malfunctions and service needs to Program Manager for subsequent resolution by Transportation Coordinator. May drive vans to repair and maintenance facilities, as needed. Sanitizes and disinfects interior of vans on an ongoing basis.
Maintains daily logs of van usage, daily mileage, etc.
Follows specified instructions, procedures, and standards for the efficient and safe operation of the vehicle and for the care and safety of passengers. Conforms to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial van.
Must be 18 years of age
High School Diploma or GED
Prior experience in the Human Services field, specifically in driving a van preferred.
Valid Driver’s License in the candidates’ legal name and current address. One year minimum
driving experience. License should be in good standing and free of restrictions.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and to follow routine verbal and written instructions required. Skill in the operation of passenger vans or equivalent required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations governing the operation of a commercial passenger vehicle required. Basic math skills required. Effective interpersonal skills, a strong desire to work with neurologically-challenged individuals required, and the ability to implement crisis intervention techniques required. Attainment of First Aid, Crisis Prevention and Intervention, and Medication certification within first 90 days of employment required
