Program: Adult Day Program – Brain Injury Services
Pay Rate: $23.48 - $23.95 per hour

 

Bancroft is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Cognitive Rehabilitation Specialist to join our Adult Day Program serving individuals with traumatic and acquired brain injuries in Toms River, New Jersey.

In this role, the Cognitive Rehabilitation Specialist develops and implements cognitive remediation programs designed to enhance each individual's potential for learning, independence, and overall quality of life. The specialist provides direct therapeutic services, consultation, and support to both persons served and team members to address cognitive, behavioral, and functional rehabilitation needs.

The ideal candidate is passionate about neurological rehabilitation and enjoys working collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team to help individuals achieve meaningful outcomes and maximize their independence. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement group cognitive remediation programs for individuals with brain injuries in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team (IDT).

  • Deliver cognitive rehabilitation services in accordance with the Individual Program Plan (IPP), HIPAA requirements, DDD regulations, and Bancroft policies and procedures.

  • Provide direct and consultative cognitive remediation treatment services to persons served in both day and residential settings.

  • Assist in developing individualized cognitive rehabilitation goals, treatment plans, and measurable objectives.

  • Design functional strategies and recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications that support learning and maximize independence.

  • Plan and facilitate individual and group cognitive remediation sessions based on each person's unique needs and abilities.

  • Support individuals in achieving treatment goals while promoting independence, self-determination, and skill development.

  • Schedule and coordinate the frequency and duration of treatment sessions according to individual rehabilitation needs.

  • Recommend cognitive remediation techniques, materials, and accommodations that enhance cognitive functioning and treatment carryover.

  • Identify barriers to progress and collaborate with team members to implement strategies that support successful outcomes.

  • Train and educate persons served and staff on cognitive remediation techniques and the proper use of adaptive equipment and devices.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional documentation, including progress notes, treatment summaries, session records, and other required reports.

  • Monitor and document individual progress toward treatment goals and communicate recommendations to the interdisciplinary team.

  • Provide training and consultation to staff regarding the implementation and monitoring of cognitive rehabilitation treatment plans.

  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field required. Prior experience working with
neurologically-impaired individuals preferred. Must meet the certification criteria as defined by the Society for
Cognitive Rehabilitation and receive ACBIS certification within 1 year of hire.
