Overview

The Training Specialist is responsible for designing, developing and evaluating engaging and effective training programs for new and existing Bancroft staff. This role ensures learning experiences meet regulatory accreditation and organizational needs using a variety of instructional methods and learning technologies. The Training Specialist serves as a facilitator, curriculum developer and instructional specialist ensuring staff are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles and uphold Bancroft’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities

Learning Facilitation and Delivery 

  1. Deliver training across various formats (in person or virtual or blended) using engaging instructional strategies such as simulations, role-playing, group discussions, multimedia, interactive lectures, scenarios that is learner-centered and evidence-based
  2. Support planning, delivery and facilitation of new hire orientation and compliance training in line with state, federal and accrediting body requirements (e.g DDD, HIPAA, ARC, CARF, JCAHO)
  3. Update and design instructional materials, including facilitator and learner guides, eLearning content, slide decks, videos and learning handouts by collaborating with SMEs to develop learning objectives and variety of content that reflects current practices, policies and evidence-based methodologies (ADDIE, adult learning theory, etc)
  4. Test and upload learning results to support the administration of learning modules and blended courses by also tracking and reporting on training effectiveness, participation and compliance metrics through LMS 
  5. Maintain and create training records and attendance data using the LMS and HRIS systems to both track activities and generate reports for reviews to identify training and recertification needs of the organization as well as support rescheduling and follow-ups
  6. Provides feedback to managers on employee attendance, engagement, and interest during training sessions; flags no-shows to support timely rescheduling and maintain compliance with training and recertification regulations
  7. Gathers and analyzes learner feedback to continuously improve training offerings, communicate findings to relevant stakeholders and support recalibration or development of relevant changes
  8. Support the department in operational duties such as scheduling rooms, ensuring cleanliness of all facilities and active sanitation of materials used by the training participants and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and equipment
  9. Actively participates in the development and implementation of process improvement systems specifically related to the training/education function, as well as to Human Resources in general, to contribute to the quick resolution of problems, enhancement of existing systems and procedures, etc.
  10. Represents the Bancroft positively to staff and any external stakeholders serving as a liaison to learners to ensure successful training experience
  11. Support special projects, team initiatives and other ODL priorities  as assigned.

  4. Willingly and effectively cooperates with Bancroft, The Department of Human Services, The Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), and other licensing or state agencies or local municipalities in any inspections and investigations, upon request.
  5. Maintains a safe and respectful environment, free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation; does not allow weapons, threats, bullying or intimidation.
  6. Reports any actual, potential or perceived  violations to the appropriate individual as soon as it becomes known.
  7. Follows all laws, regulations, Bancroft policies and procedures, and  acknowledges the Code is a condition of my employment with Bancroft. Understand that I may seek advice or additional information from my supervisor, any other manager, Human Resources, the Corporate Compliance and Privacy Officer, or contact the Bancroft Compliance Hotline at any time for any compliance questions or issues.
  8. Reports discrimination, unfair treatment, abuse or neglect, workplace safety issues that have not been addressed with supervisor, manager, Human Resources, Compliance Officer or anonymously report concerns via the Compliance Hotline.
  9. Maintains levels of supervision as defined in behavior plans; e.g., Individual Program Plan (IPP),  Individual Rehabilitation Plan (IRP), Individual Education Plan (IEP), Individual Service Plan (ISP), etc., when applicable.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

Education 

High School Diploma of GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Education or Human Services or related field preferred. 

Experience

A minimum of one year of experience in Human Services or a direct care program as mandated by N.J. State training/education standards required. 

Must obtain American Red Cross instructor training and S&PA Train-the-Trainer within 90 days of hire.

Experience with LMS, HRIS platforms, training facilitation or instructional design preferred.

Special Skills

Effective facilitation and presentation skills in the classroom and virtually required. Strong written and oral communication skills, experience in communicating effectively with a diverse group of individuals. Knowledge of training/education methods, techniques, and approaches using MS PPT, eLearning software and other.  Effective organization, prioritization, and time management skills are also required.  Has a high level of attention to detail, performing with excellence, results focused and team oriented.

Other Requirements

All team members are required to complete and clear a criminal background check, including but not limited to the following: post-offer physical assessment, central registry check, child abuse check, fingerprinting, sanction screening (Exclusion Checks),  and drug test, per current legal requirements, licensing guidelines and Bancroft policies and procedures upon hire, randomly  and at defined intervals. Bancroft will conduct criminal background checks every two years and central registry checks twice a year during your employment and pre-employment sanction screening and monthly sanction screening post- employment. All team members must have a current driver’s license (if applicable for role) and a  driving record not exceeding 5 points.

Remain competent in all safety techniques.  Provide and support a psychologically safe work environment. Immediately report concerns when things don't seem right. Clean up spills, and don’t leave them unattended. Take the initiative to understand service and behavior plans, goals, etc. Make sure treatment goals are aligned with evidence-based practices. Address unsafe conditions without waiting to be asked. Ensure supplies are replenished before they are depleted
