Overview

Position Summary:
Provides direct, consultative, and supportive assessment and therapeutic services in psychotherapy and cognitive rehabilitation therapy to persons served and outpatients to enhance individual potential for learning and to meet the specific rehabilitation needs of persons served. We are currentley searching for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for our Adult Day Program in Plainsboro, NJ. 

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

 

1. Implements clinical services for individual persons served under the direct supervision of an LCSW, in collaboration with the Transdisciplinary team, and in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines defined by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), the Individual Program Plan (IPP), Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), and established Bancroft policies and procedures.


2. Provides direct and consultative psychological services, treatments, and intervention in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines defined by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners’ Regulations and Laws, Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Individual Program Plan (IPP), and established Bancroft policies and procedures.


3. Provides direct psychological therapy, treatment services, and intervention to persons served in the residential, day program and outpatient settings:

  •  Conducts clinical assessment of individuals that include diagnosis of mental health conditions and individualized treatment and rehabilitation goals.
  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy;
  • Plans and schedules frequency and duration of sessions in accordance with individual needs and in consultation with the transdisciplinary team, when appropriate
  • Utilizes appropriate therapeutic techniques based on the diagnostic, cognitive, psychological, communication, physical abilities, and learning capacity of the individual served;
  • Prompts and/or assists each person in the achievement of goals while actively encouraging the independence and competency of each person within his/her ability level;
  • Utilizes a system of documentation that is professional, efficient, accountable, and conforms to federal and state regulations and Bancroft policies and procedures; develops and maintains progress         reports, session notes, treatment summary reports, etc
  • Provides training on a variety of topics specific to psychological services and social work to staff members regarding the implementation and monitoring of treatment plans, behavior plans, cognitive remediation plans, etc.;
  • May accompany persons served to psychiatric/neurological medical appointments in tandem with the nurse,residential direct care staff, parents/guardians, etc.
  • Provides crisis intervention, as needed, through counseling, de-escalation techniques, staff support, and assistance. May determine the need for physical restraint, operating in accordance with approved DDD regulations.
  • Practices from a culturally responsive and socially competent framework that is aligned with National Association of Social Work (NASW) Code of Ethics
  • Works to maintain the confidentiality of information obtained from a client in the course of performing social work that is aligned with the most current New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners’ Regulations and Laws

  • 4. Provides direct and consultative treatment services in cognitive rehabilitation therapy to persons served in the residential and day program settings:

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Social Work required. Prior experience working with individuals who have a history of neurologic injury or health conditions is preferred, but not required. Must maintain LCSW license in the state of NJ.

 

Special Skills:
Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required with a strong desire to work with individuals who have neurologic injuries/illnesses or other health conditions. Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team required. Ability to implement crisis intervention techniques required. Attainment of CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification within the first 90 days of employment required. Valid driver’s license required in incumbent’s legal name and current address with no provisional restrictions. Minimum 18 years of age required.
An incumbent in this position who has graduated from an accredited college with a Master’s degree in Social Work, AND possesses at least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or brain injuries may function as a Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP).
